Donate a Stove

Project Gaia uses every bit of your donation to deliver stoves to needy families.
Today we are distributing stoves in our various project sites and training people in safe and efficient stove use. In the next several months, we expect to be distributing stoves in other African and Latin American countries.

The CleanCook in a Somali refugee home

In a Somali refugee family’s traditional home, you see the CleanCook stove. Cooking is essential to survival, and in this camp where 3,400 stoves are in use, they never appear in the market for resale.
Give the gift you know they’ll keep.

Without a stove, desperately poor families must either buy expensive charcoal or kerosene or walk for miles seeking scarce firewood. Women dig up roots to burn when no other fuel can be found.

Your entire donation will be devoted to providing a stove (or stoves) and ethanol fuel for families and employing local field staff to train families in the stoves’ use.

More than a stove, the CleanCook is:
Clean air in previously smoky homes
Security for women and young girls who won’t need to face harassment, beatings—even rape—to gather firewood
A chance for a barren environment to recover; the CleanCook stove requires no wood or charcoal—only agricultural wastes
Social harmony, where refugees and local inhabitants are not vying for the same scarce fuel resources

Clean up your carbon footprint
The US national average personal carbon footprint is 7.5 tons of CO2e (a measurement of greenhouse gases) per year. Depending on the fuel it’s replacing, the CleanCook saves between 2.5 and 17 tons of CO2e per year. Your purchase of a single stove can reduce or eliminate your carbon footprint!
