TECHNOLOGIES   |   GETTING STARTED

You can donate stoves to families in need, your contributions can keep our field staff doing their valuable work, and you can volunteer your time to help us achieve our goals.

Did you know? Every twenty seconds, someone—usually a child under five—dies as a result of kitchen smoke.

Change someone’s world

For many women in developing countries, their world revolves around making their home a good place for their family to live, providing food, water, and care. Housework is all drudgery, spending hours searching for woodfuel, carrying water, caring for small children, growing garden crops, cooking again, scouring pans that are heavily caked with soot using cold water and ash, washing children who are coughing and whose eyes are inflamed from the smoke…

Then they get an ethanol stove. The fuel comes in bottles, the pots stay pristine, the children’s faces stay clean, they feel healthier. You can make this happen for a family in need.

Help us help others

Finding the right technologies is only half the solution. Making people aware of the dangers of smoke, helping them to make the transition to new cooking practices, encouraging other organisations to get involved—all of these important tasks take money and time. Supply chains for fuel need to be strengthened, depots to make it convenient to collect the fuel need to be found, entrepreneurs willing to sell stoves and fuel need to be trained. Project Gaia gets involved in all these aspects to make ethanol stoves sustainable. Please help us to help those living in poverty.

Volunteer time

Make a difference

Are you a new graduate, keen to do something really valuable and exciting, and willing to work long hours for very little money, yet do something that is more valuable than you ever thought possible? Are you flexible, enthusiastic, generous with your time and knowledge, and willing to get on with whatever is needed? Can you bake and sell cakes, run marathons, give talks, etc.? Do you have skills that you think would help Project Gaia to achieve its aims? Perhaps you should think about volunteering to help Project Gaia for an hour or two, or even for a few months? We’re interesting in hearing what you have to offer our cause.
